How We Help Our Patients

We follow four general steps to help our patients get what they want from their time with us. The steps are:

1. Listen       2. Examine       3. Educate and Council       4. Treat

Lets look at what is involved in each step.

Listen.
Dental Implant Specialist in Long Island NY listens to his patients' needs.
We never forget that there is a person attached to the mouth. Each person that comes to us has different wants, needs and resources. By taking the first 20 minutes or so of a new patient appointment Dr. Scharf takes the time to talk to his patients so that they can tell him what their issues are and what they want to accomplish. Your goals become our goals. This time allows our patients to express any concerns they may have. To assure good coordination of care for you, Dr. Scharf thoroughly reviews each patient’s dental and medical histories and confers with their general dentist and physicians when appropriate . Most patients are astonished that a health care provider is actually taking the time to just talk to them and understand them.
Examine.
There can be many different treatment options but there can be only one diagnosis. A thorough diagnosis is critical for a smooth treatment process that occurs on time and within budget. A new patient examination involves head and neck and oral cancer examination, evaluation of the gums, teeth, and bite as well as radiographs. We only take radiographs after a clinical examination to assure that only the necessary films are taken. If you have films taken recently elsewhere we will get them. Be sure to check out our technology section to see how we minimize your exposure to X-rays.
Gum Doctor of Long Island NY will complete your treatment as efficiently as possible.
Educate and Council.
After examining you Dr. Scharf will determine what options are available to address your issues. He will discuss with you the pros and cons as well as the cost and time involved with each option. This will take place in a private, unhurried setting for as much time as you need. You will be given written material as well as a written treatment plan listing visits and time involved for treatment. There are no surprises. We encourage patients to bring a spouse, family member or friend to be a part of the treatment conference.
Treat.
We will complete your treatment as efficiently as possible. This means that appointments start and end on time and the total number of visits is kept to a minimum. We will let you know how long each visit will be and what the impact of that vii sit will be on the rest of your day. We treat many busy professionals who have little or no down time and are sensitive to peoples' obligations outside the dental office.
