For Your Comfort

A lot goes into making and keeping someone comfortable at the dentist. We pay special attention to this area and would like to talk about some of the things we do.

A big part of being comfortable is understanding your treatment and choosing that treatment because you know it is right for you. Dr. Scharf and his staff spend a great deal of time with their patients discussing their needs, wants, fears and concerns. Many of our patients comment that they have never just sat in a nonclinical area and just talked with the dentist. This alone is very relaxing.

Welcome to the the office of Dr. Scharf, Periodontist and Dental Implant Specialist in Long Island NY

Our office is designed from the ground up for your comfort. As you approach you will notice a lot of glass. You can look in before ever coming in. You will never wonder what is behind that door.

You will be greeted by name by our friendly smiling staff members whose charge is to treat each patient as they would treat a guest in their house. Our patient bathroom is stocked with toothbrushes and mouthwash if you want to freshen up before or after a visit. We also have an assortment of scented soaps and lotions that all our patients really love.

Our treatment rooms have big picture windows overlooking a private garden. All our dental equipment is behind you and out of view. You never feel like you have those hoses and cables draped over your lap.

We have televisions in the ceiling so that you wan watch your favorite show while having your dental treatment done. Fresh blankets and heated neck pillows are always available for patients who want them.

We offer a wide spectrum of methods to numb your mouth. Topical anesthetic is applied to numb the gum tissue before a local anesthetic is given. Many patients get a racing heart beat from "Novocain." We use a relatively new type of local anesthetic called Articaine. This medication gets the teeth and gums very numb but does not usually cause the heart to race like other types of local anesthetic can. Of course nitrous oxide is available to patients who want it.

Our office is designed from the ground up for your comfort.
