Noor Mukhtar, DDS, Long Island Periodontist
Dr. Noor Mukhtar is a periodontist at our Babylon, NY office, where she and Dr. David Scharf care for patients from across Long Island. She treats gum disease and gum recession, helps patients replace missing teeth with dental implants, and brings a compassionate, patient-centered approach to her work. Each treatment plan she develops is personalized, with the goal of protecting the gums and the structures that support the teeth for the long term.
Dr. Mukhtar completed her residency in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry at the New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry in 2026. Her three years of specialty training included in-depth work in dental implant therapy, soft tissue grafting, regenerative procedures, and esthetic periodontal surgery, along with the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal (gum) disease. She previously earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, where she was named to the Dean’s Honor List.
When patients visit our Babylon office, Dr. Mukhtar personally examines their teeth, gums, and supporting structures before recommending treatment. After a comprehensive periodontal evaluation, she can determine what treatment is appropriate for a patient’s condition.
Dr. Mukhtar believes quality care begins with trust between patient and doctor. She listens carefully to each patient’s concerns, explains her findings in clear, everyday language, and walks through the available treatment options so patients can make informed decisions about their oral health. Throughout treatment, she makes a point of keeping patients comfortable and letting them know what to expect at each step.
Dr. Mukhtar is fluent in English, Arabic, and French, so patients who prefer to speak Arabic or French can talk through their diagnosis and treatment with her directly. She stays current with developments in periodontics and implant dentistry through continuing education and follows evidence-based principles when recommending care.
